She was only 14 years of age.
Antonella was still in college.
She had one brother named Ivan. Her parents name are Ganni and Gina.
She asked her friend to go jogging with her. Her friend didn't go with her because she had other plans to do. Antonella left a note to her mother that she left the house at 9am and she is returning back at 11am. and in the note she wrote from where she is going to pass. She didn't pass the way that she told her mother.
The girl was crossing the street at the dangerous spot where traffic coming down from Floriana turns left to Pieta'. Antonella apparently decided to cross the road without even watching if any traffic is coming down
She died on the spot.
The driver on the bus, Mario Briffa, 28, was heard saying he stopped the bus when he heard a thud as he was manouevering the bend. Passengers also told the police that they heard a strange noise before the bus stopped.
A woman who happened to be passing from there and saw the accident became hysterical and had to be treated for shock, as were two passengers in the bus. Fr. Karm Busuttil, vice-parish priest of Zabbar,administried the last rites.
The accident happened at about 10am but some hours elapsed before the girl was identified at the hospital mortuary. Scenes of heartless and crying there was in the hospital when her parents and all her big family knew about this sad tragedy.
From this story I want to tell all the children to be careful when they cross the road. Please please becareful. My cousin died because she didn't watch if any cars are coming and please cross the road by the zebra crossing. R.I.P. Antonella XXXXXXX. You are beloved by all your family xxxxxxxx.
